I guess this is what happens when you charge a 13 year old with sorting the mail.

I was talking about cattle ranching practices in territorial Florida, our principal agricultural export before citrus took off. Cow herders were known as "Crackers" because they used bullwhips to herd (what else?) bulls. Apparently the insinuation that a bullwhip could ever be used on something besides minorities is racist, at least according to them. I don't think I even mentioned slavery once.

I did enjoy it, I still find it very interesting. My particular passion has always been for folklore. It's just the sort of thing where you get a thick skin and ignore it.

I only recently graduated so I'm still working the desk job I took in college. It pays the bills and they let me read in my free time, so that's nice. I'm currently spamming out applications to all sorts of stuff, particularly a lot of land management stuff thanks to a lot of coursework in archaeology and bio/ecology. I'm considering getting a grad degree in some natural resource management field and trying to land something in park management at the state or federal level. Alternatively, might go for my MS in Forensic Science and go that route. Just wait and see what turns up mostly, read and write in the downtime.

I buy used and my main vices are books and liquor so it's just what I spend my money on.

Posted this in another thread but hopefully can get a better response here:
>Delillo
Just read "The Body Artist" yesterday (rec from a /fit/izen of all things) and was wholly unimpressed. Did I just pick a bad place to start with Delillo? I've heard people saying it was his worst work and honestly after the first 2 chapters it seemed like 100 pages (thankfully with large type face) of nothing much. The piece about the exhibition at the end was interesting I guess. Also a lot of shitting going on for some reason?

Ad hominem is a fallacy when the attack is unrelated to the argument.
>we shouldn't let this man teach preschool, he has a conviction for child abuse
Is not a fallacy.
>we should not let this man teach preschool, he's estranged from his mother
Is a fallacy.
One of these people rapes children, the other doesn't call his mother.

It's because they have no idea what you're talking about or why you brought that up.
