I really enjoyed the little secrets here and there in the book. Im a sucker for decoding shit.

Beyond that though, its a pretty average read. The story was nice, but it got really, really, really tiresome at some points.

I mean how many fucking lists do you have to make in a book before you think you go the point across? Especially when you just gave something to decode for the reader, so when you give them lists theyre going to look for more clues to something.

Youre mixing yourself up. I was referring to someone who was talking about a false dichotomy, so I had to play into it. Or else I wouldnt really be able to refer to what the other anon was talking about, would I?

I dont know about a pre-french revolution aristocracy. Are you talking about the greeks? If so, then were in agreement. If not, then youre going to have to back this up somehow, since the kingdoms of medieval Europe are definitely fucking not what Nietzsche was talking about. Nietzsche wasnt no romantic on Arthurs dick, cmon now.

/lit/, im not quite sure how to ask this, but do you know of any philosophy or philosophers that deals with how easy it is for values to be flipped or changed? So much of value theory, ethics, and political theory deals with the world "outside the self" and how we can shape it to reach some ideal, but what im interested in is how we can flip or change the ideal we have inside instead of changing the world outside.

Also heard of this and I plan to look this up when I head over there towards the end of summer.

For the time being though, advice on what to read?

hey /lit/, im a philosophy major, about finish my third year and im pretty much done with my degree. I can be here for two more years, and im thinking about what to study. I wanted to go with a math minor, but to pull it off id have to take out an extra 7k in loans for the summer. Worth it? Other major suggestions? I wonder if I could haggle them down.

/lit/, I've for quite a long time had the problem of trying to get to the bottom of things within philosophy.

What I mean is what is the most fundamental thing to understand, that once understood, will be the basis for everything else?

Where do you think this basis lies (linguistics, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, etc)? If we cant know what it is, do we at least know where it cant lie in (linguistics, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, etc)? Is even such a basis possible? If it isnt, what do?

Hey /lit/

I've been dying to read a scary book. Like book that will really chill me to the bone. I read Red Dragon and those books but they didn't do that much for me.

Can anyone here recommend a scary book?
