Is this just the artless brute's argument for the relevance/importance of his or her own work? Aren't irritating things just irritating?

I have to say I think Stein was a shitty writer and even Ayn Rand hated her with a passion i.e. in the words of Seneca, "let evil vie with evil."

Shitty literature accompanies a shitty show.

I've still only read Richard Yates (which is neutrally awful), but I don't care for the New York scene of which he's a part.
