Were I there, as as psychiatrist, I have the power to involuntarily commit all of these men out on account of being sexually dangerous, evidenced by this photograph alone touching and acting out. All I need to do is call an ambulance, file some paper work, and they are going away for 12 months to the state hospital and will be on a list the rest of their life. I might lose my state license if enough outrage is thrown by the LGBT lobby, which I doubt, but I would see fallback. However, the worse the consequences I face, the more my spotlight, meaning I could leverage that to get out of pleb practice entirely and just be a media commentator on right-wing leaning stations.

It's actually the other way around. People who seek diagnosis are more likely to have read an article on Buzzfeed about 'being depressed' and conform to diagnostic guidelines, and in turn, are much more likely to respond to treatment that otherwise show very low efficacy (such as SSRIs). This is your average rich girl from the city who is "depressed". In point of fact, she isn't. I am happy to treat and diagnosis her but to treat her with the same seriousness and medication as a real case is simply undeserving of time, consideration and will in fact only lead to great harm given the usual low mental capacity of such persons to adhere to dietary regimes or be bothered with memorizing potential contraindications.

Contrast this with someone who doesn't even get treatment, or postpones it for years: say this individual >>14502421, yet they will fail all treatments but MAOIs and Ketamine. This is what 150 IQ psychiatrists diagnose as "actually depressed".

The real redpill is that depression the result of sociogenic and povertogenic factors which results in compensatory decrease in neurotransmission, dampened hippocampal neurogenesis, all these suffering factors are prolonged consolidate this maladaptive state. The more abject one's loneliness and poverty, the worse their depression.

95% of psychology PhDs are unfunded, many require PAYMENT. Not only that, because there are so many fucking pseuds studying psychology, the postgraduate education and research length needed to get to a PhD can take as long as 7 fucking years. All for making around $74,000 starting.
I can tell by the way you write and the fact that you are capitalization negligence that you are a brainlet. At best, a low end midwit. So this consider, yes, yes, psychology is indeed the field for you.

It was merely a hypothetical. Regardless, your line of inquiry is ignorant. Peterson cannot diagnose people beyond whats in his book, and even if he does, there is little he can do about it in must jurisdictions; he is a clinical psychologist and lacks medical training that would allow further diagnostic and proper pharmacotherapy. It would take an actual psychiatrist to get someone like the woman in OP properly treated.

I postulate that the theraputic efficacy of SSRIs are from their antilibidinal effects, as my male patients who respond best to them have their sex drives affected the worst. Sexual excess may play an etiological role in depression; it is possible that abstinence itself may be of benefit for some patients.

Pro-tip, actual scientists hate the STEM label and do not appropriate themselves under its umbrella. STEM is riddled with undergrad pseuds who think they're scientists but aren't. We all know the sort here. The #MarchForScience tier midtwits. DUDE SCIENCE!!!!!!!
Go to hell. Every last one of you. The world would be better off without you LARPing as scientists causing trouble for actual high IQ individuals. Case in point, the brainlets who destroyed James Watson's career. Hypotheses have been replaced with dogma.

>What are the best books about psychiatry, fiction and non-fiction?
You need to start with medicine and learn the basics; biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, neurology, etc. Psychiatry is basically medicine applied to the frontier of the mind. I personally like Stahl's Essential Psychopharmacology. I was interested in it mostly because of the potential to enhance healthy humans or cosmetically apply pharmacotherapy as needed.
We treat more than mental illness. e.g., Sleep disorders.

If you're very intelligent, you'll be dealing with more than psychiatry in your patients and most doctors don't like you sticking your nose into their treatment procedures (muh w-why'd you tell my patient to discontinue lipitor!!!!rreeeeee!!!!). To remedy these conflicts, my advice is to go for a dual specialty of Psychiatry+Internal Medicine which is only 1 extra year, that way for the patients you really like you can completely dictate their health decisions if they so wish.

>An optional follow-up question: is it the most lit job?
I consider Priests and Monks more /lit/ out of everything but of medicine, I'd say it's the most /lit/. Neurosurgery would take the #1 place but, it's long hours and you're going to be dealing with tragedies every few months and have very little free time. I generally like neurosurgeons more than psychiatrists. They also are some of the most chaste people I've ever met. Most psychiatrists are low IQ and only switched their specialty at the last minute.

They're collapsed. The bruising is the angiogenesis of smaller veins to move blood around the obstruction.
Vein collapse from blood donation vastly goes unreported, and in the case of plasma, is always attributed to drug-use rather than the liability of the plasma center as people desperate enough to sell plasma use drugs at a much higher risk. Indeed, most people selling plasma probably would not seek out medical attention for these bruise-like markets anyways as they probably lack health care coverage, making the population more unlikely to seek care again leading to misrepresentation. As for non-compensated donations, I think many physicians are afraid to address the risks associated with it for fear of being marginalized as a bad person "WHAT ARE YOU AGAINST BLOOD DONATION, WTF??!?! YOU WANT A BLOOD SHORTAGE, THIS IS HOW YOU GET A BLOOD SHORTAGE".
Intelligent people should not risk venipuncture unless it's required for diagnostic bloodwork. I quite frankly do not care if a plasma shortage ensues. It's wrong to lie to people about the risks of blood donation which is entirely superfluous for their own sake.

Why does Jordan Peterson hate post modernism so much? It seems to me that he takes a lot of classical philosophy and waters it down into self help crap just to sell to the masses. 12 Rules for Life is just...so unnecessary.

/thread. OP, >>12180584, listen to that guy.
If I may add, even if you felt that it may be useful before med school as a fallback option, nursing is a bad major that will wreck your GPA because the candidates within it are those who do not respond well to testing. As such, there is a plethora of busybody work (homework, projects, etc) to make up for poor test performance. You will be inundated. You'll be in an 80% Jezebels enviroment in nursing.

Computer science is not /lit/ either. Nor is it a logical career choice; if you do not have a strong knowledge of C++ already, forget it. Why hire you when they can H1B a more energized man from the Indian subcontinent for half of what you're willing to work? Again, the same sort of dilemma applies to the course of study itself too. Busybody work. Why do I mention this? Because you need to keep up your grade point average if you want to go into medical school; doing that is easy if you choose a conventional major such as biology or chemistry depending on your intelligence (you should have no difficulty understanding either). If you can plan the required courses in advanced, you could even study humanities in undergrad provided you take oChem, biology, etc (check the websites of medical schools for entrance requirements). In retrospect, I should have studied philosophy or even literature. My undergrad education was utterly worthless in terms of teaching me anything that I didn't already know or couldn't easily learn.

OP, if you have no plans for graduate education, don't go to university--- nearly all majors are too saturated and unless you come from a wealthy background with people able to get you jobs, or have many friends and connections, then you'll struggle with employment even if you are intelligent, and yes, even if you were a good looker and were socially agile and adept. I used to think 50k starting salaries were low back in 2012.... the situation has gotten worse. I ask recent graduates how much they're making sometimes---- 30s and 40s starting. Abysmal. That + loan repayment makes it not simply not worth wasting 4 years of your life; you're gross income (what actually matters) is too low to do anything but just survive, additional debt is a non-issue in comparison. Trade school is better than undergrad by itself. Now, if you want to go to graduate school, and study medicine, get a PharmD or go after a funded PhD....by all means carry on with undergrad, which is a necessary evil for entrance into these programs.

Careers suggestions?
-Radiologist as mentioned is probably your best bet.
-You might also enjoy being a hospital pharmacist, consider pharmacy school. Much better than a nurse and less social interaction required.
-Have you considered becoming a priest? Or perhaps a monastic? I'd advise you to contact Opus Dei; some of their members take a vow of celibacy, so you could experience the lifestyle.

Either way, I wish you luck, hope you get this sorted out.

Straw man.
Fetishes are diseases by the way, they are classically conditioned perversions. It's not an innate preference but one that develops from arousal to certain stimuli first exhibiting the subject matter of the fetish.

Appeal to authority, and use of circular reasoning to deduce delusion and narcissism (which are used as ad hominem insults in your post).
There isn't a wide body of professionals obsessed over narcissism. It just happens to be a pop-psychology term that everyone likes, and the perfect scapegoat to project your distaste of an individual on to. A mold to fit all people you dislike.
