Initially, I didn't even know who de Sade was, and I'm not particularly enamoured by his work. When I started researching him, it was just for background for a screenplay. Then the project became the film, and I couldn't avoid all his stuff. I've read some of his work but I don't like most of it, and I'd only seen one of his movies, Salomé. But I've also read and seen all his fiction, of course, and been tempted by a few of his philosophical works like The 120 Days of Sodom...
