What science fiction might you lot recommend? I've been meaning to delve deeper into the genre but have thus far only read three of HG Wells earlier works (which I will probably reread seeing as I was in middle school at first reading). If I were to only read, say, ten works from the "prophetic" authors, which should I select? How about less prophetic, merely narrative, but rigorously scientific (hard scifi) novels?

I get the impression /lit/ is a poor place to ask this but wanted your thoughts.
