San Manuel Bueno is a great choice! I implore you to go into Garcia Marquez - the entire Latin American Boom is wonderful for Spanish learners, however A Hundred Years of Solitude has a prose perfect for broadening one's horizon and, simultaneously, delighting.
Seeing as you've managed Cervantes, I'm certain you've the level to enjoy Cortazar.
If it's in your vein: Antonio Machado is the height of peninsular modernist style, albeit infinitely more accesible than Dario (someone whom I mustn't even recommend explicitly).
My final (and best) recommendation is none other than Galdos - far from archaic, his style is crystalline and timeless. Read one or two of his Episodios Nacionales (I much, much prefer them to his non-historic works) - the second you start the first page you'll grasp why Galdos has been so beloved.
My great grandfathered shared correspondence with him, my grandfather read all his works, my mother read them as well and, in turn, I read them. Each one of us in awe.

If only you faggots could read Galdós or Nilo Fabra.
Just in casa: the former's «Episodios nacionales» and the latter's «Cuatro siglos de buen gobierno» would certainly be enjoyed by all of you.
