Assuming contemporary American shitlib paradigm that postulates masculinity is embodied by protags of 1980's action movie franchises and any form of emotional intelligence in men is a telltale sign of suppressed homosexuality, it is true enough. However, within a substantially longer lived and reality congruent view that men are corporeal manifestations of boundless Apollonian spirit and women are barely sentient breeding cattle wholly subservient to ephemeral emotional states it is not.

true i forgot about against the day, the tunguska section and the tarahumara in mexico are good examples. i didn't enjoy it as much as his other big works so i must have pushed it out of my mind. i tried looking up the article but it's only available at that link, which unfortunately doesn't seem to work. what does it cover?

Man I think the internet and videogames have melted my brain. I'm reading a little too fast. I understand part of what I read, but I feel like I'm missing those little details of prose. I think about reading that Harold Bloom book, How to read and why, but Idk.

I have been wanting to read this, as I hear it's a great book but I have seldom read philosophy save for your common political books like Mein Kampf and Das Kapital.

Is this a book I could start with?

Hear me out, /lit/. I desperately want to be a certain type of writer. I have things I want to say, things I need to say, serious things. However, when I examine myself personally I can’t help but look at myself as an immature clown. I think about what my family might think of the sort of writing I want to do and think that’s way too serious and mature for a person like me. I have this idea of this sort of serious, mysterious, maybe even dark or depressed writer and I don’t think other people, at least not my family view me that way. Does anyone else feel like this? Is your writing or what you want to write aligned with you? It makes me feel like this is hopeless and I’ll never be taken seriously...

>Who can name Him and dare profess "I believe He is!" Who can feel deeply and then presume to say "I don’t believe!" Encompassing all, sustaining all. does He not hold, sustain you, and me, and Himself? Is not the vault of heaven there above? Here below is earth not firm? And do not everlasting stars emerge and gently gleam on high? And when I look into your eyes does not all being press upon your heart and mind, an unseen presence stir, visibly, beside you? Imbue your heart with this immensity, and when you wholly feel beatitude, then call it what you will: "Happiness! Heart! Love! God!" I have no name to give it! Feeling is everything, name is but sound and smoke.

Hello poetry anon,
Use more imagery. To me poetry is a highly visual and emotional medium where grammar doesn’t hold you back. But I tend not to write in scheme

I’m debating whether I want to do a degree in philosophy or not. I’ve been to a couple lectures and everyone there was a massive normie.
Legitimate conversation I had with one of these people:
Me: so what philosophy are you interested in?
Them: I’m really into philosophy of race and feminism, what about you?
Me: I’ve read a lot of neoplatonist stuff but I don’t really know yet
Them: I don’t like Plato, I read he was a protofascist
I checked the course and feminism and philosophy of race were modules and there wasn’t one on Plato
Is it like this everywhere? Is there any point going to university for philosophy at all?
