the greater good is a spook. so is your christian morality. but so if a whole lot of individual egoists stand to personally gain from killing some others in name of their functional society why not?

On a side note, why do you think Stirner didn't achieve the same level of popularity as Nietzsche?

Listening to your former self is ascribing authority to a recollection, to an idea, a concept. It makes the actual you subservient to something intangible, something fictional. A spook.

This is not bravery, this is a cowardice where one places responsibility outside of oneself. To be brave is to be true to oneself, and oneself exists only here and now and is not the concept of the self, nor the concept of a former or future self. Every choice is made in this moment. This is even better than freedom, it is owning oneself. It is the only real form of power there is.

You know some people are actually introverts and enjoy quiet time alone? You're an extrovert, you enjoy time with people, good for you. Is everyone like this, does everyone have to be like this? No, some people get more out of their time by being by themselves and are happy with it. I have books to read, projects, things to write. Being with other vapid people, drinking until 3 am and talking about completely meaningless bullshit does not make me happy. Is it that hard to understand that there are different people with different likes? Why do I need to conform to your standards of the good life?

For the Cynics we have to rely on historical context, biographical details and vague fragments. As far as Epicureanism and Stoicism are concerned there are actual texts. In the case of Epicurus written by the man himself.

>>3558399
>Diogenes of Sinope was a hardcore motherfucker. But I think cynicism morals can be practiced without being so extreme, something like Stirner's moral egoism or something like this.
I've had this tendency myself to somehow compare between Stirner and the Cynics, given their shared interest in autarkeia and autonomy. Not sure if I'd use the term egoism in regard to the Cynics though. How would you see a modern Cynic? How would he live according to your idea?

Welcome to /lit/, where high school student and basement-dwelling neckbeard alike project their insecurities using broad absolute statements (I'm looking at you >>3264114 ) onto the greatest minds of history.

Their saving grace is their self-consciousness, sometimes irony. For the others there is no hope
