I know this board likes to pick on him a lot and I used to agree with your guys-es sentiments. Then I decided to pick up his novel "The Fault in Our Stars". Which you can purchase here -->https://books.google.com/books?id=UzqVUdEtLDwC&printsec=frontcover&dq=the+fault+in+our+stars&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj-8puOvOjSAhVM7GMKHZGnAUAQ6AEIGjAA#v=onepage&q=the%20fault%20in%20our%20stars&f=false

It suddenly occurred to me while reading it, that John Green is really bullied for want of a good reason here. When you actually read his book you realize how he really tried to push the medium of teenage romance novels by making them deeply philosophical and profound. That's better than most of you neets can say. Just take the title for instance. "The Fault in Our Stars" points to Shakespeare's master work Julius Caesar and the famous line "The fault dear Brutus is not in our stars, but in ourselves" and it rejects the simplistic nature of such a reactionary view. Instead it submits that it is indeed our stars fault. It is not our own choices to blame, but instead the socio-economic situation we were born in. I understood this sense he was a kid probably, when he had trouble getting girls. It wasn't his fault! It was because of the life he was given. I should note that I am practicing Christian by the way, but even I can see that the deep message that John puts into his work is noteworthy of admiration and perhaps emulation if you guys were wise enough to do so.

That is all.

>No matter where I turned, I found myself at the foot of the massive cliff of my incompetence, and for all the self help books, motivational speeches, and NIKE adds of the world, I've never been able to sustain the immense passion and willpower necessary for scaling that peak. In fact, the only sustainable emotion I've ever been able to find in myself is the vague notion that it would be best to throw myself from the window of the tallest building I can find, and put an end to this deplorable business of life once and for all. Some people were born for greatness, but most were simply born to sputter about like a wind-up toy until death. And me? I can't even find the energy to wind myself up.

Is our trolling starting to get to him?

>If that was true he must have felt that he had lost the old warm world, paid a high price for living too long with a single dream. He must have looked up at an unfamiliar sky through frightening leaves and shivered as he found what a grotesque thing a rose is and how raw the sunlight was upon the scarcely created grass.

My prick is still hot and stiff and quivering from the last brutal drive it has given you when a faint hymn is heard rising in tender pitiful worship of you from the dim cloisters of my heart.

>Asked about novelist Harold Bloom, who took his own life in 2008, but who has a new book out, “I Suck Shakespeare's Cock: An Unfinished Novel,” put together from manuscript chapters and files found in his computer, Green says, “You know, I don’t want to be offensive. But ‘The Western Canon’ [regarded by many as Bloom’s masterpiece] is just awful. It seems ridiculous to have to say it. He can’t think, he can’t write. There’s no discernible talent.”

>It’s all a clear indication, Green notes, of the decline of literary standards. He was upset in 2003 when the National Book Award gave a special award to Stephen King. “But Stephen King is Cervantes compared with Harold Bloom. We have no standards left. [Bloom] seems to have been a very sincere and troubled person, but that doesn’t mean I have to endure reading him. I even resented the use of the term from Shakespeare, when Hamlet calls the king’s jester Yorick, ‘a fellow of infinite jest.’

>“It’s sort of a dark time. Imaginative energy I think is very difficult to summon up when there are so many distractions. There’s a kind of Grisham’s law [in literature]; the bad drives out the good.”

>When adults say, "Teenagers think they are invincible" with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail.
