You presumably have all three books if you have the pic you posted...so why wouldn't you just read all three? I don't understand this mentality
That aside, Purgatorio and Paradiso surpass Inferno considerably. Absolutely transcendent works of poetry

>See, here's the thing. I refuse to believe "incels" are real. Even the weirdo nerds in small towns like ours got laid before they finished highschool. Finding a romantic partner, let alone a casual fling for a night, isn't hard if you literally just talk to someone for a little bit.
Bad take

for me it's when the author wants to interpret the life as a doomed thing

Magnolia is great. I never actually saw the over dramatic angle that people always claim. I can sort of see it in Tom Cruise's performance and William H Macy's but PSH and Julianne moore gave some decent performances imo. I think the movie fits really well in the new sincerity movement which was its closest artistic context. Magnolia feels like a David Foster Wallace work but like...better.

I find watching older french films helps me practice. Less slang. I can understand Le Grand Illusion but if you put La Haine in front of me Im fucked.

Maybe not what you're looking for but In the Mouth of Madness is in my opinion the most post structuralist John Carpenter movie

How insecure do you have to be with yourself and your sexuality to call a woman a whore because she has a bit of cleavage showing. Welcome back to the 18th century I guess.

To claim that either medium is "better" than the other is silly in the first place — there are stories that simply work better in one than the other, and there are intersections between the two.

Film and literature have been in dialog since the day film was invented. Each benefits from the other's existence, and each informs the other. They're just suited to different sorts of experiences.

Ulysses could never be anything other than a novel, and Citizen Kane could never be anything other than a film. To even aim at a similar goal across mediums, you'd have to eliminate nearly all of the substance of the original and start anew.

Let great artists make great art, and let audiences find that art. This bullshit about whichever medium is "superior" is just a distraction from thoughtful appreciation and discussion of great works.
