"For a large class of cases - though not for all - in which we employ the word 'meaning' it can be defined thus: the meaning of a word is its use in the language.
And the meaning of a name is sometimes explained by pointing to its bearer."

I stopped studying Heidegger as an undergrad, I haven't studied anything continental as a grad.

With B&T Heidegger had courage and persistence to tackle ontology in a unique way. He is rigorous and honest.

With his later works he loses focus. He takes language as the house of meaning down a regrettable path and nearly becomes a mystic. He is far too poetic and vague. Specifically he thinks he can go beyond Dasein and get at Being in another way which I disagree with.

THE NEAPOLITAN NOVELS BY FERRANTE

Fuck everything you know and what this people are advising. I work in a bookstore and this series just hit its final novel around 7 months ago and women in this age range have not stopped buying it. Women in this age range and 99% of my customers and this (besides adult coloring books and The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up) is what they buy. There will be the new big NPR book review book, but this series remains.

It was literally THE book for mother's day, the book for a mother looking for a book for her adult daughter, or vice versa.

That's it, you're done. Walk away from the screen and go read these.

So, what the fuck is up with Chekhov?

Is he just not capable of ending a story properly or what?

The obvious answer is that they are tied. Only true patricians understand this

/lit/, Ive always enjoyed poetry, but Ive never given poetry the time I have with short stories or novels. I can list several authors that I love, but I can barely name a handful of poems I love, let alone poets.

Ive tried in the past to get into it. There was a site I used to go on that seemed to have every poem, and I would spend hours just going through poem after poem. I learned a few more poets that I enjoyed, but nothing compared to the one poem I have always loved, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T.S. Eliot.

Please help me break this cycle, there has to be poetry out there besides this one poem that I will like.
