That shit is terrible. It's a bunch of spoiled middle class kids whining about the price of starbucks, breast feeding in public, student debt vs the wages they'll make by being a women's studies major, or feminism.

It's shit prose, rhythmic flatulence of the lowest ability, the farthest thing from the grand peaks of poetry ever to come from the shit-eating mouths of humans. They believe that by writing about so-called "urban" subjects they increase their "street cred," or perhaps give their bloated egos something to brag about.

Slam poetry suffers from the curse of automated prose, that is, one barely bothers to listen to the extended pronunciations of the words they speak, for the slam poet's boots tread no new grounds, nothing new is anticipated, there is no poetic foreignness in their speech which keeps the listener on edge. They are a curse, a plague, slowly riding our language and art into oblivion.

This banal drivel is considered "good" poetry.
