Has anyone here who isn't a native Japanese speaker learned the language well enough to read Japanese literature? How has the experience been? I'm already planning to learn "business Japanese" for work reasons, I'm considering whether or not the extra effort required to read literature would be worth it.

Just heard of this badass Mishima and am eager to get right into him. I was thinking of starting with Death in Midsummer, are there any essentials I should start with or read? He seems like the Camus of the east, a real ladies man with that body.
