J'ai utilisé le cours de latin d'Assimil. C'était pas mal, mais ce serait mieux de l'utiliser après avoir complété un autre manuel.

One option I can think of is forging a degree in whatever field and then using that to teach English abroad. You won't necessarily be teaching underprivileged children, but you will get to travel and earn somewhat of a salary at least. Or you can run a programming boot-camp at a reduced price.

It's kind of got a great way about it in how it's written but I think some of it is simply that if you're a guy your options are: Depressing Russian literature, difficult classics or sci-fi/fantasy shlock. BM is kind of a good, not too difficult, not too long book for boys to read about something they like.
It's essentially just pride and prejudice but for boys. A non-offensive a-religious but well-rounded story in a manageable size. Where previous iterations (Namely Moby dick and Anna Karenina) Asked bigger and more complicated questions, required more prior understanding and more knowledge of the western tradition, these newer ones do not, so they're a good entry point.

At least, that's what I think.

What's a good book that goes over a high-level overview of the most important things that happened in the history of the Western world? I just want to know what all is out there.

I want to read the hobbit and lotr for the first time, but I wouldn't be able to escape my nagging inner autism of not having read the silmarillion first, which makes me not want to read any of it because I've heard the silmarillion is shit.

help...
