>Don't
Good first point.
>If you can stop yourself from writing, you are not a writer.
What?

>Read.
No shit.
>You cannot please the master until you have been a master and know what is pleasing
So he's confusing Master with trend-follower but okay.

>Write.
No shit.
>Do a writing prompt every day
Yeah sure, cool to do that but then you're not writing what you want so you'll start to hate it.

Overall 3/10 advice to be honest. I'd get more out of learning how to write prose from Sanderson than that.
If it was 'Don't, or Read and Write' He'd save himself a lot of trouble.

This, and to an extent >>16014790.
Coming from a background of studying Drama (plays) and Literature (""""""""Serious"""""""" literature) at Uni; I'd say broad influence outside of the genre you wish to write could be more helpful than learning from the same robotic voice.
Drama helped me nail dialogue and pacing. Lit helped with structure and general writing practice.

>But anon I just want to write sff
Learn to write well first. Then you can write fantasy or sci-fi.
Conventions stay the same, your voice is the changing factor.
