To me it feels like a soap opera -- lots of family drama -- mixed with a morality tale.

It's a good book, not as good as crime and punishment, but still worth a read. I had to slog through some of the chapters about Zosima and that stuff but otherwise it was fine.

if literature is the art of man than female feet is the art of God. It is pure astheticism.

It is also the only artform that has yet to suffer postmodernist deconstruction.
