You know. That deal with being white and middle-class.

for me, Freedom, Revolutionary Road, and The Easter Parade. All very good books.

It's been 3 years since TBE, and it's pretty old, in his 70s. Do you think he's retired, and just hasn't said anything? Or is he working on some cool, new book?

>implying his 2000s books aren't his greatest yet, entertaining and polished, better than his older, most appreciated stuff

I just keep a list on my computer. Feels weird, but a lot of people do it, so meh. Just to keep track of things I've read, not sure why. I do the same for films.

God. I remember back in the day. Something like 2010. It was obsessed with A Game of Thrones, Infinite Jest, Dark Tower (having said that, what book message board wasn't obsessed with this, back a few years ago), and Harry Potter. I don't post here much anymore, so what are the "big things"? What are people reading these days? Do they talk much about the superwriters from a while back anymore, like DFW, and JK Rowling?

They're just as good as novels, but people seem to avoid them / disrespect them / dismiss them all the time. Why is this?

What do you think?

I'm just over 200 pages in. The first section (in America) was boring, lifeless, and poorly written. The second section was fairly good. The third section is good so far.

I must admit, even though this is a reasonably good book so far, it's not like the excellent Freedom. That was one of the best zeitgeist books I've ever read (second only to GWTW), but this is...I dunno. Maybe it gets better.
