I do this but I come up with the most nonsensical comparisons possible. It leaves people a little more confused and my inner workings a little more mysterious. During a usual conversation with a coworker I could go:

It is the best feeling monkey wrenching a mundane interaction and seeing people completely hapless and confused when I'd just been talking in complete lucid normalcy the moment before.

the core of JP's mainstream audience consists in would-be normalfag zoomers that for some reason or another weren't able to live up to their potential
to anyone outside of that range he's just yet another spokesperson of the herd, not interesting in the slightest or even appearing as actively malignant to those who see in herd culture nothing but
JP is a reflection of society, as how society sees itself. it's an uninteresting perspective indeed; nothing substantial (radical) can come out of JP's sociocultural critiques. though being an unrepentant lolbert i'd rather listen to Zizek's hegelian-lancanian nonsense than JP's well and truly neoliberal sentiments. his politics aren't interesting in the slightest
something else is to be said for his work on depth psychology, though. it's far from being a Campbell or Jung rehash as he's often accused of. i quite like the 'meaning' shtick but i'm not sure it bridges quite as neatly to a re-embrace of neoliberal capitalism as JP thinks. he's a first-rate thinker in psychology but a third-rate political philosopher

i am certain my words won't suffice to describe all the plentiful pleasures that reading has brought upon me.
I realiezed this through reading.
But to name a few which come to me at this moment:
>enrichment of vocabulary
>confrontation with many concepts and ideas which leads to a better and deeper connection and interaction with reality
maybe one could say reading is a way to cultivate your intellect but that is to narrow a viewpoint i believe. It is not only my intellect that has veen cultivated but my whole being which includes the more intuitive or some might say unconscious aspects of it.

>constantly make fun of anons on /lit/ for reading translations, pretending to have read the iliad in homeric greek myself
>make fun of midwits in Dosto threads
>constantly make Stirner/Guenon/Land threads, hoping someone unironically wastes time reading them
>start massive arguments with myself in e-book vs physical book threads, violently attacking both sides
