My thoughts exactly. So many people like to claim the actions of WW2 veterans as their own, without any thought to the contemporary context of their actions. Literally every single man who fought in WW2 thought they were defending the contemporary values and interests of the empires they were fighting for. This modern idea that WW2 veterans were fighting for "muh democracy" and "muh freedom" is just completely disingenuous.
