Hello chaps!

I'm after something like Joyce's Dubliners. It doesn't have to be a collection of short stories, though vignettes would be nice, it simply has to be a similarly opprobrious portrayal of a certain group of people. It'd be great if you know something equally symbolically dense and suggestive, however I am aware that Joyce is generally regarded as the pinnacle of such tales. Can you guys help? In return I offer sixth-from intellectualism.
