Do people think pic related is good? I'm about half way through it and literally can't believe how badly written some of the dialogue is. Does it get better in the next books or should I just quit now?

Hey guys i remember a while back starting to read a book, whose name i do not recall (pretty obscure tbh not even a full wiki page) about a medieval/fantasy world.

It had 3 POV's( one was an alien girl who was an advisor to some queen or something, who also could do magic; the second one was a human gay guy who was pretty good with a sword and was from a wealthy family even tough they didnt care for each other -on the account of him being gay-; and the third one i do not recall).

The only addicional info i remember is that in the 1st 4 or 5 chapters the human guy kills some ghouls who were burried in a cemetary behinde a church...

the human might be named ryland or ryley or something

anyone might know the name of this said book?

Hey Lit,
Trying to decide whether to start the Malazan Book of the Fallen series or the Book of the New Sun series first.
Malazan series by Steven Erikson is pretty legendary and I have heard it is hard to get in to but one of the most rewarding series to finish in fantasy.
Book of the New Sun series by Gene Wolf is perhaps less well known but seems equally interesting. It is in the dying earth/sci-fi/fantasy type genre and I have seen it compared to Dark Souls type of atmosphere in literature.

So anyone have some personal reviews and maybe suggestions on which one is better? I would like to hear how Lit feels about both of the series.

Quick question for any readers of the malazan series.

Does it have a glossary/appendix in the back at all? I want to get into the series, which I'd prefer to have in e-book format, but if it's got a glossary/shit I need to reference in the back from time to time, I'll probably just get the physical copy.

Has anyone read the Malazan Book of the Fallen?

Recently, I have read the first 3 in the series. I thought the first book was amazing, but I found the 2nd and 3rd very weak by comparison. Do you think I should carry on, or am I not going to enjoy the rest of the series?

i only read at an eighth grade level. will i be able to comprehend this book?

I am planning on beginning this series soon. Could some people give me their thoughts on the series; if they enjoyed it and what they thought about it? I mostly read fantasy and sci-fi, and Black Company is probably my favorite 'dark' fantasy series overall.

Just finished reading Gardens of the Moon, and I'm curious as to the quality of the rest of the series. I wouldn't say that GotM was at any stage bad, but I didn't find myself particularly enjoying the book until Darujhistan, a third of the way in. I'm curious as to how the story progresses, certainly, but I'm dubious as to whether or not continuing would be worth my time. I'd like to hear opinions regarding the quality of the remainder of the series compared to GotM.

Anyone ever read this series? I read a lot of fantasy, and know a lot of people who read it too, and nobody has ever heard of this guy. It's a shame, because its the best I've ever read. Makes Tolkien read like young adult fiction.
