Where does an uneducated guy like me even start? I genuinely despise Islam but at least they have a fairly simple onboarding process. Where do I begin getting close to Christ?

I'm sorry, I know you guys must get this question all the time, but more than ever I'm starting to realise how important faith is to a life well lived.
Which bible should a midwit like me start with?
How the hell do you decide which denomination to select? How should I decide on a protestant/catholic approach? I went to a Church of England school, but that's pretty much all of my formal education.

Been an atheist for a while but I've come to a realization. even if god is impossible to prove empirically or even metaphorically and even if my choice of religion is to some extent arbitrary I still feel as though religion has some value. god, like money or human rights, may not exist objectively but we may be better off by believing anyways. how do I convert without becoming a larping faggot?
