/lit/,

What do you think about Jared Diamond?
I've read "Guns, Germs, and Steel" and liked it, but I have no scientific background to have a critical view over it.

I'm thinking about reading "The Third Chimpanzee" and "Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed".

Are his books still relevant?

I just finished reading this book, if you haven't, you really should; it's absolutely perfect for the story you're writing.

According to the book, the only disease that was truly of American origin was syphilis (even then, they're still not entirely sure). The reason there was so little in the way of diseases and disease immunity in the Americas was the lack of domesticated animals for diseases to spread from and evolve. Including so many animals that should have gone extinct in the New World should include a whole host of other diseases.

Oh wow. New idea:
Jeans that have extremely tight spandex from the fly area down to the inner thigh(on both sides) instead of denim.

If women can show cleavage, why can't we show off what we got?

Also, what about this book by the same author? It seems to go into history as well. This looks much more informative.

Cultural Anthropology

Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies - Jared Diamond

It's a must-read for someone getting into Anthropology, and a fine book for someone with a casual interest.
