Convince me that I didn't just waste my time reading this.

I have never felt that my time has been needlessly wasted while reading a book. DFW had some really interesting and poignant things to say, but he should have been able to make the same points in half as many words. I have read essays and speeches by him and know that he is capable of writing in an almost concise way.

Ugh, I am ashamed that I slugged through this drivel. Make my day and convince me that my time wasn't wasted.
