I've noticed that "creative types" tend to have really dumb, idealistic viewpoints. Hence why so many are dithering reactionaries (Pound, Eliot, Land) or hippie SJWs (Le Guin, Sonntag). Most serious political types I've known almost never read fiction or poetry.

Of course, you have some people who are both artistically gifted and politically serious (Picasso, Steinbeck) but it's rare.
