How do you deal with the constant drone of dissatisfaction in your life /lit/? How do you find pleasure in the things you used to find pleasure in? You seek to express yourself in different ways, only to ask yourself "Is this all of me, is this all I could have said?". You know it isn't all of you, you hardly even know who you are. So you continue to seek something serene, something to satisfy your senses, yet your mind returns to the same monotonous hum of everyday thoughts. The experiences of life no longer satisfy you and your soul is weak.

How do you deal with it?

but do we lose anything in this transition from the battlefield to the sports arena? what is shed in the process? is this loss a valuable one that reconfigure the terms of glory?

>>4513883

seen this before, but have yet to read it--any good?

please stop. you are clearly too uneducated to participate in this thread, and to those who perhaps have read the things i'm alluding to you come across as aggressively ignorant.

>>4513981

this is a very persuasive argument, and i cannot help myself in agreeing with you. do you believe that the "loss" you point toward has irreperably altered the terms of glory? i find it interesting to conceive glory in the terms you've laid down: that glory has erased its "self-value" seems to imply that it has simultaneously erased its principle value, which was always self-value. how are we to define this new form of glory?

very interesting post.

When writing a novel, /lit/, how many words would you consider an adequate amount to fill a chapter with?

Writer thread, post, criticise, troll etc

What's the opposite of romanticism?
like someone who love the industrial revolution and all mechanical stuff, machines and modernity
steampunk is fantasy and futurism is well futuristic and the industrial revolution is history by now.

Can anyone recommend some good sites with large numbers of downloadable ebooks or pdfs or scans?
Preferably those with a lot of 20th century stuff
Also, I'm specifically looking for Colin Wilson's The Outsider, so on another note, does anyone have opinions on it or a source for this specific book?

The other day I was watching the most recent spiderman movie and there was a scene that stuck out to me.

Towards the end he's in his English class and the teacher says something like "There is only one story in literature - Who am I?"

I know it's just a movie, but how accurate do you think this is or to what extent do you think this is true?

Mornin', fellas. I'm an studying English at the moment and have to pick a foreign university to exchange to next year, and I'm wondering if anyone would know some nice things to say on the following places:

UK
University of Surrey, The Queen's University of Belfast, University of Gloucestershire, Oxford Brookes University, University of Sunderland, University of Wales, University of Greenwich, University of Kent

Ireland
University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick

USA
Centenary College of Louisiana, Michigan State University (East Lansing), University of Montana, University of Mississippi, Alfred University, New York

Canada
Dalhousie University, Mount Saint Vincent University, Simon Fraser University, University of Winnipeg, Wilfrid Laurier University, Université Laval - Québec, The University of Western Ontario - London Ontario, The University of New Brunswick at Saint John

Word going around campus is that most of these institutions apparently have pretty low tier programs, so we're being told to pick according to our geographical preference. I still want to go for the sake of living in an English speaking country. So, does anyone have any nice things they want to share on these locations or just on the exchange experience in general, fire away. Or if I should just stay the fuck at home, please tell me as well :3
