If you don’t understand how “ugliness” can be beautiful, you have no taste, and also you live in a dreamworld where the 20th century never happened. I find this piece (‘Reclining figure’) very beautiful. It speaks to the undoing of the body. De Kooning was a classically trained sculptor and painter so he could make muh anatomically accurate figures. But he chose not to.
