Theres nothing inherently bad about collectivism and group think, only when its applied to the modern melieu of endless technological progress. Start with perrenialists like evola, guenon, schuon ( yes, they are meme'd to death on here.) So you can get a different perspective on how contemporary societies functioned. If you're not ready to take the plunge into esotericism and spirituality you can also check out modernist critiques such as Elull, Baudrillard, Kaczynski.
