I prefer Plato. Something very instinctive and visceral in me loves the Theory of the Forms. It resonates with me on a fundamental level.

Kanye is Modernity personified. If we define Modern thought as a focus on the Self before all, who has embodied it in the past 100 years more than Kanye? Everything Kanye does, all the art he puts out, is about himself.

It's all English-speaking writers, and there's a dearth of the classics. I understand Hitchens' thirst for contemporary reading, but couldn't he have chucked in The Republic or The Prince? You don't get modern society without either of them.
