Some have rituals in them, some don't. You don't have to do the rituals, but you should at least try them once.

The absolute best place for you to start would be Prometheus Rising by Robert Anton Wilson. It synthesizes most of the subjects found here in this chart into a simple, humorous and easy to read book.
