Oh it's that perception of detachment that has driven away large parts of the world from philosophy. Which is rather unfortunate. I cannot make an assertion that it will definitely help you in life, but I can assure you that the questions to which you have formulated answers are, in large part, the same questions which centuries of philosophers have tried to answer. Many of their answers may seem unconvincing. But that is exactly the point; answers are only valid according to the constellation of surrounding facts and ideas that validate them—and every age has its own distinctive characteristic.

But in observing those differences, perhaps you may well gain a better understanding of where you are, and where we all are, in the present day. I don't mean philosophy in the strictly metaphysical dimension (like Descartes, Hume, Berkeley, and Kant's epistemology—although these are tremendously interesting when you feel the need to know what they said). Philosophy today is a corrupted word. Its children have broken free to claim their own merit. But, historically considered, all the sciences, all the explanations of society and its movements, are in some way philosophy. Politics, as you may well see, was an equally eminent domain in Aristotle's classification of philosophy.

You might like reading Will Durant's Story of Philosophy. It is a deeply beautiful work that introduces one to the great thinkers of the Western tradition in the manner that a friend would introduce his acquaintances to you at dinner, so that you could marvel at them and talk to them with as much joy as he does. And maybe, after reading that, you might like to pick up a decent bit of philosophy for yourself. It is a nice pastime at least, to have many thinkers living in your mind and existing in constant dialogue with your thoughts.
