capitalism and communism are 2 sides of the same coin.

communism already failed but its utopian ideology replaces religion for traumatized atheists.
these atheists become communists in devotion and fulfill religious duties.
it fills the void for awhile but drives them to suicide, assassination, or cheka zealots/any of the other ideological mass murder gangs. the abyss already conquered them.

Why is this the usual route that people go down when they try to dismiss studying in things like metaphysics?

And how is this really any different than your organized cult mentality of apathy, hedonism, and self-destruction? I directly observe the behavior of people that worship the cult of so called "existential dread" and they more often than not they are very out of shape, unhealthy (complete with poor diet and hygiene), engage in healthy sexual relationships (if involved sexually at all), and typically have at least one if not more addictions. I am simply skeptical that your outlook on reality is not only beneficial but even worthwhile.

Reading ancient wisdom, particularly ancient metaphysics, gives you a great grounding in this biological temporal world that we exist within. Why feel "dread" about that? You know, we all wish we could have "unlimited" time to exist but we do not. Thus, when I read books like the "Meditations" by Aurelius (to use a very well known example) is that me trying to "ease" my "dread" at the inevitability of death? OR perhaps it is trying to make the most of my time spent here in a constructive, healthy way?

And if you use the argument, "it doesn't matter' then we are done here and have nothing more to say to one another. Until each and every person who makes these claims to me blows their brains out or commits suicide in some other way than they are simply cowards who are not living the mantra they preach. If you felt so much "existential dread" then you would end your life. The reality is we live well above and beyond such a ridiculous concept that you have been herded into believing to make you a better numb consumer.
