What are some history books and biographies you've recently read?

Leagues better than the UK/CAD/AUS "Napoleon the Great" edition.

Andrew Roberts is the author of pic rel. It's there in the blue bar (historian and author).

This is quite good but all the French names make it a tad difficult to keep up.

All the French names make this unreadable. This is worse than The Lord of the Rings. Fuck this gay ass book and fuck the French.

Two years ago I read the first ⅓ of picrel. It was really good and I'm going to try to tackle the entire thing sometime in the near future. I'm also reading Conquest but it's on the backburner.

im listening to this audiobook. I like it a lot. I never learned about Napoleon in school. it also helps me appreciate 19th century lit a lot more.

I try to complete 1% every time I sit down to read this.

I think it's good so far. It manages to be to-the-point and quickly-enough paced to be readable, while being factual and largely letting the characters tell the story. I'm reading it on Kindle and I'm highlighting every point where Roberts points out Napoleon's beliefs/his strategies/what inspired them/and what Enlightenment policies he implemented. It manages not to be dry and is engaging for sure.
