This is quite good but all the French names make it a tad difficult to keep up.

All the French names make this unreadable. This is worse than The Lord of the Rings. Fuck this gay ass book and fuck the French.

Two years ago I read the first ⅓ of picrel. It was really good and I'm going to try to tackle the entire thing sometime in the near future. I'm also reading Conquest but it's on the backburner.

Why haven't you read this book yet, /lit/?

>[Madame de Stael] asked Napoleon, "Whom do you consider the best kind of woman?" clearly expecting a compliment of some kind to her own famed intelligence and writing ability, whereupon Napoleon answered, "She who has had the most children."

I think it's good so far. It manages to be to-the-point and quickly-enough paced to be readable, while being factual and largely letting the characters tell the story. I'm reading it on Kindle and I'm highlighting every point where Roberts points out Napoleon's beliefs/his strategies/what inspired them/and what Enlightenment policies he implemented. It manages not to be dry and is engaging for sure.
