This entire series is basically powered by political machinations. Sure, there's a battle or two here and there, and the occasional quest, but the central story is about usurping power from a shitty depraved Prince and preparing the new generation to take over once he dies. All while their neighbours not-India keep trying to take over the world. I would normally recommend this with the proviso that Fallon is a bit of a basic writer, but if you enjoyed Abercrombie this shit will feel like Gene Wolfe.
