The problem is that Americans pull a knee jerk reaction to any criticism of their country while being head high in propaganda without any sense of self awareness.

I'm a born and bred American but my takes on the country get me called a traitor by my compatriot NPCs, for simply questioning the status quo, despite being more knowledgeable about our own country past a superficial consumeristic level and more well traveled having lived and worked in Europe and Asia.

They will constantly move goal posts, project, pilpol, gaslight, deflect or any other intellectually dishonest move in order to distract from ever facing a certain reality.

The reason is simply that Americans are so culturally isolated that hypernationalism is the default part of their individual identity and ego. They constantly "patriot check" each other as an obligation of moral supremacy.

If you think I'm talking about liberals or conservatives individuals, I assure you there's zero difference between the two in the international perspective.

You're best off by reading media criticism lit as it's majorly focused on American media (check the sticky for recs). Documentaries like Hypernormalisation are also helpful critiques on the American mentality. It's very difficult for Americans to escape their hyperbole and tunnel vision perspectives, so you have to take much more into account than a single particular author.
