I'm talking about Rooney's writing retard. Learn to read. I know women and faggots have to personally identify with characters in order to enjoy something (and I already know that's the appeal of Rooney's work)--but that isn't my personal basis for thoughts on the book (because I'm not a woman nor a faggot). Besides, it's an internal monologue--Francis isn't namedropping (she admits in the same line that she thinks she's misapplying his ideas). Basically, Rooney is showing us Francis is a deep thinker/intellectual but also insecure; the insecurity shit has been 95% of the book so far. See, you can talk about the writer and the characters separately but with reference to the same event. Again, learn to read.

Francis is likeable so far (the other characters have been 1 dimensional but I'll have to finish more of the book because it's told in first-person narration and I have to see where the character goes). I'll add that Bobbi is an annoying cunt so far though.

This tends to be true in aggregate. Basically anything critical of social norms, society, or its elites will be disproportionately occupied by defective freaks with a chip on their should. Or outcast, failed psychopaths outreaching to lower functioning outcasts to acquire some form social dominance and recognition. Criminal organizations fit the same bill, but to a more extreme degree. But it's unfair to cast every criticism in that light since it isn't overwhelmingly true. And if you are not a weak person, you shouldn't be vulnerable to sharp criticism. Only weak people fear acknowledging difference or being honestly held to account.
