"But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams." bro

What book has done it before?

Famous authors are usually made famous by the undercurrent of some political movement or institutional power.

Orwell, Huxley, and Jack London were made famous by the Jacobian socialists at the London School of Economics.

Marx was made famous by the communist movement -- obviously.

Vonnegut was made famous by the Carnegie Mellon cabal.

All actors were made famous by publicists and movie producers because they needed to be famous for their works to sell. The same thing goes for authors: publishers and other systems make them famous for ulterior motives.

No one is made popular on the merit of their work alone. This is hard for artists to accept -- because they are under some spell that we're living in a meritocracy or something stupid like that,-- but it's true.

You could be God and publish a book containing the pure unadulterated truth in the highest prose imaginable, but if you don't have a publicist or marketing strategy: your book isn't going anywhere.

The Gospel doesn't preach itself. If there weren't priests and other institutions which publicize the book, people would read harry potter instead. More people have read Harry Potter than the Bible in the U.S.. Even God has problems competing with YA fiction.

Now that we have reminded ourselves of how things work around here, let's not act surprised when a "famous" author or book turns out not to live up to its publicized expectations.

The greatest authors of this age are living in poverty somewhere and you won't ever know about them. That's the truth. And their works will be forgotten -- like my diary desu.

>Few men will anything very strongly, and out of these few, only a tiny minority are capable of combining strength of will with unwavering continuity. Most human beings are spasmodic and intermittent creatures, who like above everything the pleasures of mental indolence. ‘It is for this reason,’ says Bryce, ‘that a strenuous and unwearying will sometimes becomes so tremendous a power, almost a hypnotic force.
Which books will help me to develop this?

The concept of "Justice" is no less metaphysical for an indian than the concept of "Karma" for an american.
The same could be said about the Greek "areté" and the Chinese Yin/Yang.

My friends let me into our Discord again after the old one was closed down and I could plainly see their meta channel were people said that I was annoying and that some of them were against me coming back. A few years before that my other friends split up as highschool ended, they stayed together and I flew out. I don't think I ever was accepted and respected in my life, only tolerated like a dog.

Anyone get books with sticky pages? It freaks me out every time immediately assuming it's cum and lament as i'm unable to wipe the image of a homeless man jerking off while reading what was most recently a collection of lovecraft stories.
