>American critics
The same stock that panned Moby-Dick as a flop and Melville as a failed novelist. America is a nation of subversives; it wouldn't surprise me in the least if people were just resentful of being made to read him in school. Steinbeck is a remarkably simple and straightforward storyteller who doesn't go out of the way to do anything extracurricular or unnecessary to tell the story. I can only presume they're speaking of Samuel's family, but Samuel was tremendously beautiful and if not successful in his own right at least passed on a patrimony in the form of grace and redemption to Adam's relationship with his sons. Even if Samuel didn't play a more forward role than that, like reading about Levin in Anna Karenina, every scene with Samuel is like this wonderful repose of endearing simplicity that reminds you of the tranquility of life, an oasis from everyone else's turbulent passions. But an American wouldn't appreciate simple beauty even when their own countryman slaps them in the mouth with it.

>feeling lonely
I've never felt lonely a day in my life, and at this point I've spent most of it completely alone.

No, in fact everyone under 120iq should be barred from reading decent literature in order to cultivate an intelligentsia-class that will finally properly govern their respective countries.

Look man, I'm just gonna have to put my cards on the table here; you've forced my hand. I didn't want to say this but it looks like I'm going to have to. I cum. It's what I do. I'm a big cummer. I bust fat nuts and toss thick ropes of juicy cum. I do it until my balls are completely empty and the skin chafes on (and around) my frenulum. I've been cumming since before you were born and I'm going to keep cumming far after your death. Some weak, lesser men—puerile, piteous little things of staunched desire—guard jealously their meager life force. They tremble with it clutched tightly in clenched fists like cowards, unsure of its limits and fearing the day they find its reservoir containing nothing but fumes. Not I; not now, not ever. I'm going to keep busting nuts because I draw directly from the cosmic well of life force itself, and I do it freely. When I've got a hard cock winking its lonely eye northerly the heavens I'm just going to cum, and there's nothing you can do about it, little man.

I write things which appeal to the least possible amount of people, which I can confirm is just one person. I'm really good at it -- absolutely everyone hates what I write.

If you read anything published in the last 80 years, you are pleb and a pseudointellectual.
>inb4 why
I shouldn't have to explain why. I haven't read any contemporary literature, but I imagine the prose is no good. Which brings me to my next point: If you read for anything other than prose, you are a pleb and a pseudointellectual, and not an aesthete.
