Is there a legitimate literary genius who was not a pervert, and who was not a degenerate?

I've noticed that the more info we have, and the more we learn, about great writers and poets, the more we seem to note that they were big perverts, and many also had strange fetishes. From Joyce to Kafka to Proust to Melville and more, the writers whose close lives we know about all seem to be weirdos, especially sexual weirdos.

Do you think we find the same thing if we could go back and look at the Medieval and Ancient writers and poets? Is there just something about being creative that goes hand in hand with being a pervert? And if so, why?

Ulysses. I'm actually not doing a Meme Trilogy thing. I'm in graduate school, getting an MA in English Lit, and Ulysses is the subject I've chosen for my master's thesis. I read it five years ago, and now I'm rereading it before I start writing.
