Now, I'm not saying true lasting happiness without being in love is impossible, it's just so incredibly hard that most likely you will follow the fate of DFW and Fisher if you have the modicum of courage :(

DFW is always defined by his suicide, it's seen as a kind of cruel joke, but I see it as an inevitability IN SPITE OF his decadent spirituality.

The answer to his suicide lies in his lack of true love. I agree, this answer is more like a hypothesis, but you must agree it makes sense. He was most likely deeply unsatisfied romantically by his wife.

Follow the path of DFW, it's a good path. But you must also find TRUE and absolute romantic fulfillment. Inb4 you're full of shit for implying you can't be happy while single. Dude. I'm talking about deep, lasting happiness. Fulfillment without having to be fulfilled further. Contentment. Joie de vivre. Dolce vita.

Sure, it technically can be achieved without true romantic love. But it's just so hard you'll most likely fail and either become a dead man walking or just actively commit suicide like DFW or Fisher
