You can assert stream of consciousness is pronounced in modernism (Joyce to...now?) but it was used before that and should still be used, just not in the same way as the last hundred years
Most neo prose suggests we'll be using the ol' mashed thoughts with little punctuation for a little while longer, anyway

He really strikes me as someone who is so dull and boring to be around that he forces himself to be weird instead, as weird is seen as better than boring

My take: do not. If you want it to exist with any sense of credibility or distinguished realism, it would require the finite details of experience, of real-world-living that coalesces into tangible, comprehensive accounts of such things.

Now, don't let me be misunderstood. If I were to, say, write a work of fiction on a homesteading family of Trekboers and their ramshackle wagon with its ungainly oxen team, it would be a completely different experience. There is only limited recollection of such events, none first-hand and only sparsely scattered between specific historians and families of salient lineage. There are ten million and more people who can read your work with the utmost certainty that most, if not all, of the experiences, points, instructions, descriptions, explanations, proposals, etc., can be found within the realm of their experience or the shared experience of their immediate ancestors. Would these people read your bit? Who knows. But there are plenty of them out there to criticize it, and their opinion on the matter can be taken with a LOT more credence sheerly by the pigment of their skin.

With this I mean to say that any mistake, any abridgment of the facts for your personal comfort or understand or out of your sheer lack of first-hand understand would become a glaring scuff in a piece that, I might add, would undergo scrutiny unlike every other work your little brain-hamster could churn out of his fat, empty domicile.

At the rate we're going, this wouldn't be contrarian or controversial...merely tasteless and obtuse. I doubt you would attract any one crowd or the other -- these "contrarians" you mention wouldn't want to read that ramblings of an inexperienced gascon and everyone else has no interest. Those who did delve into it would probably be, in some form, members of the aforementioned millions, and would come into the read with a mindset of censure and vitriol. The worst part is they would have more claim to the matter of knowing than you. You strike out there, chief; game over.
