Salinger's depiction of a teenager both terrified and resentful of the fact that he's on the cusp of adulthood was perfectly rendered and excellently wrought. There's no possible way anyone could have written more clearly or concisely the feelings and emotions of that time of someone's life, and some people still don't fucking get it.
