But the trouble I'm having is with the را as the direct object marker in a sentence? Can you explain it as simply as possible how to understand when to use it with a direct object?

Any farsi books you'd recommend? Just finished Colloquial Persian(hate the romanized farsi) and Teach Yourself Modern Persian.
