Orthobros, I'm attending my first Russian Orthodox service Sunday. I speak a little bit of Russian, and I've been to non- Russian Orthodox churches. What do I need to know? Will they accept me?

Also, books about Russian Orthodoxy? Russian orthodox spirituality? Russian philosophy?

The anon is highly exaggerating here. True, he explores some themes like writers of his time and Russian writers specifically about the current debates and new thoughs about serfdom and state of the dispossessed. However, he does this from his from the personal perspective of his own philosophy (which was, by the way, quite novel) of Christianity. Naturally as a writer he reacted to the current times in Russia. To read Tolstoi's writing as communist propaganda is same as saying Sermon on the Mount was a commercial of Fish 'n Chips.

Is reading a lot of philosophy and mature novels gonna turn me into a more interesting person? Assuming I don't have friends nor do I socialize.

What college do I go to if I:

>like classical music some times

>don't believe in "progress" except through the development of a personal, moral worldview
>dislike cars and planes
>am not interested in politics because why bother these days

I don't know if it's going to be the ruin of my life or the wisdom of my life, but I am in a strange bind. Blogpost incoming. I've finally met the kind of girl I never thought I would meet, I won't rave too much here but let's just say it's all too perfect, there have been Jungian synchronicities, it's freaky, etctera. But I feel wary about pursuing romance. If I do, I will be plunging myself further into a world of desires and attachments. How could romance possibly be spiritually healthy? This girl, you know, means quite a bit to me, gives me feelings like a never once expected return from all my childhood happiness. But I'm being a fool aren't I?
