I already went the self-pub route...but I hardly sell anything.
There just seems to be no answer.

Essentially what I am looking for are good book recs to deal with suffering. And please no dumb bullshit. Should I get into absurdism through Camus? Political existentialism through Evola? Maybe read Schopenhauer to try a western spin on rejection of desire? Create my own values - Nietszhe? Go back to Christ? Heidegger, who well, I have no fucking clue what he has to offer.

And yes I know I will get the "cringe", "pure reddit" comments. But I simply cannot afford to be depressed and stop working. Im serious that as much as I want to stop working, I would rather die, I dont even understand it myself. What drives me towards that vision of possibly raising a happy family. Why it drives me so much. I haven't even had a girlfriend in years. For me, philosophy should be the science of how to live the best life. Purely utilitarian. The philosophy that leads people to be happy and productive is the best (no not in China bugman way, i just mean fulfilling their talents). So how do I do this? Who figured out life? I'll take any recs at this point

I want to write a magnum opus of literature about the harm that modern society does to young people. It'll be a novel or long form poem about a cast of eight to twelve different characters who live generally separate lives, only occasionally crossing paths, but all share the theme of having their lives and potential ruined, in many different ways, by vice, ego, and obsessive pride in their own unique political, religious, and moral views.

I plan to write other things before this of course, as I am nowhere near experienced enough to do so. I write a couple thousand words of more realistic projects a day. The issue is, by the time I end up writing what I want, I fear too much time will have passed for my ideas to still be relevant.

Are there any writers who published their masterworks after having the idea for it for most of their lives? Any similar works you'd recommend to look at explorations of similar themes?

Thanks anon. I didn't mean to make it sound so dramatic, it's not all bad. I'm doing fine in school and have a reasonable chance at getting a job after graduation. I just don't have any real social life, and I feel like I'm losing out on a part of what it means to be human. Solitude is nice and has its unique perks, but it's not enough for a good life, I don't think. But perhaps this is just one of the woes of modern life. We're all adrift in our own worlds. I dunno.

Is it actually possible to imagine Sisyphus happy? How do you rebelliously accept and live with the absurd? Is it just cope?

Are we any closer to solving philosophy than the Greeks were? If not, what the fuck is the point?

Nromlefags keep telling me that it's ok that I can't spell but it's a clear sign that I am living refuse. It takes a lot more time for me to write legible english. This post looks fine, but I had to spell check most weards (<exspt that one. nothing worked) sometimes in a search engine to get results. Normally, I would use speech to text but it makes me feel even more like a cripple.

Thanks for posting this, one of the most well sourced rebuttals to Petersons arguments. The part about him misquoting the sisyphus bit was interesting, as immediately after he also gets it wrong when he says the titan Atlas voluntarily takes the world on his shoulders - makes you think how many other things he got wrong that his fans lap up all the same

Having a vicious cycle where I'm not satisfied with how quickly I'm writing but I also feel that what I am writing is shit but I also want it be read and appreciated by someone impartial to me.

i'm equally compelled and repelled to create and it's making my depression worse.
