Ugh, I need to write a 2 narrative entries & 2 reflective entries from John Hale (in first person) from The Crucible. What should I write about?

Got an exam on the crucible coming up in a week. Apart from reading the play, what are some relevant things I should explore and research on (historically and through possible interpretation)? The written exam may ask about the allegorical relationship between the salem witches and the mcarthy era - apart from that, I'm not sure. What are the themes? What are the characers?
