LMAO this is the opposite of the truth. all my metropolitan friends and people I meet listen to the exact same music, read the same shitty books, consume the same movies, have the same political opinions, etc. Most of them even talk in a similar way--detached irony, casual nihilism, zoomer turns of phrase that are meaningless to me. People are conformist no matter where they are. None of us can escape it.
