I do this all the time. It has actually become the only thing I do with my free time.
Side notes, charts, summaries, critical reviews, all personal, privately saved information directed at my own improvement, edification and life plannification.

If I'm not seriously studying relevant non-fiction I feel I am wasting my time. I still take rests once in a while to play videogames, lifting and interacting with friends and qts but it is honestly all inferior to the meaningful self-actualization and exploration. Been doing this for 3 years and the brain gains are noticeable.
