The really good games are older and less graphic. So when you played them a significant amount of the action was taking place within your imagination. Indeed the best games in my opinion are the ones where you need to let go of the mouse, lean back in the chair and consult your notes, trying to keep your overall strategy or the personality of your character in mind so that your play-through is achieving internal consistency. I guess they inspire a kind of role-playing is what I am saying.
